The NPJH STEM Club is a collaborative, community-based program in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The goal of our program is to provide opportunities for students to develop their creativity and spark interest in STEM-related careers and activities. Our mission is also to provide a fun, low cost, and interactive environment for girls and others underrepresented in STEM fields to get involved in science and engineering activities in an opportunity they might not otherwise receive.
Beginning the first quarter of the school year, the group will meet after school biweekly. Please listen for call-outs on announcements and the NPJH Webmaster. The Science Club will have our entire science department staff, as well as, a resource instructor involved. The club is partnered with several organizations. This year there will be STEM activities led by Lilly “Chemistry is a Blast” and Science Coaches, the Hancock County Purdue Extension Office, and the Chemical Education Foundation. Students will not only engage in hands-on, inquiry-based activities, they will also have the opportunity to compete in the You Be the Chemist Challenge. Since 2015-2016, three students have qualified each year to compete at the Indiana State Competition.
